The circle of figures supporting each other representing shared and collective love for each other. The Grateful Dead's "Skull and Roses" logo, based on an ink drawing titled "A Skeleton Amid Roses," was originally found in a San Francisco public library by artists Alton Kelley and Stanley Mouse. It was first used on a concert poster for a 1966 show at the Avalon Ballroom. The logo's meaning encapsulates the band's psychedelic life-death-rebirth themes and the community it fostered.
